Praying ‘specifically meaningful prayers’ rather than prayers of ‘wandering generalities.’

After dinner with some of the grandchildren at Avalon RSL with invited guests who are staying at Adam’s for two weeks I drove off from the Avalon RSL car park with the iPhone and charger on the roof of the car. I disregarded the metallic sound of it being thrown on to the road as something rolling about inside the boot.

When I discovered it missing after dropping off Bethany at Dee Why and her friend at Harbord I retraced the path of the car, and didn’t find it so reported it missing to the solitary policeman at Mona Vale Police Station.

But not after some serious petitioning of the Lord.

I prayed ‘Lord, You floated the axe head for Elisha, please float this iPhone for me, where I can see it as I recover the route I took.’

Retracing the path from Avalon to Dee Why produced no results.

So after reporting the loss at Mona Vale Police Station and driving back to Gosford, the same moment I parked at home I got a call on my other Android phone’

A bus driver had seen a flashing light, stopped and picked it up and taken it to the Mona Vale Police Station.

So I immediately drove the hour and fifteen minutes back to Mona Vale.

I have not talked to the bus driver yet, but the Policeman mentioned that the bus driver saw a light flashing on the side of the road and thought ‘that’s unusual, it must be a device’ and stopped the bus to investigate. Didn’t find the charger but said he would go back and look for it when the Policeman told him that it was reported missing with a charger. I’ll give him a reward.

I believe it was that specific prayer about God floating the axe head for Elisha in 2 Kings 6:1-7 that was heard by God, as it  was a ‘meaningfully specific prayer’ rather than a ‘wandering generality one.’

The concept of reminding God of His promises is present in Isaiah 43:26. In this verse, God says, "Put me in remembrance; let us argue our case together." This is interpreted as an invitation for believers to bring God's promises to mind and plead them before Him.

2 Kings 6, involves Elisha and a group of prophets building a new dwelling near the Jordan. When one prophet's borrowed axe head falls into the water, Elisha miraculously causes it to float by throwing a stick into the river. The,prophet then retrieves the floating axe head.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Context: The prophets are building a new dwelling place near the Jordan River, and one of them is using a borrowed axe.

The Loss: While felling a tree, the axe head falls into the Jordan River.

The Concern: The prophet who lost the axe head is distressed because it was borrowed.

Elisha's Action: Elisha asks where the axe head fell, then cuts a stick and throws it into the water.

The Miracle: The iron axe head miraculously floats to the surface.

Recovery: The prophet retrieves the axe head and I recovered the iPhone.
